Joachim Caspar | 19.06.2013

The final presentation of the two Software-Cluster projects “Fundamentals of Emergent Software” and “Process Innovation Within the Software Industry” took place at the Fraunhofer-Center in Kaiserslautern on June 18, 2013. The projects with a total value of 31 million euros and consisting of a consortium of 29 partners from industry and research are the first two projects that have been completed successfully within the excellence cluster competition of the federal government.

CONWEAVER, together with representatives from DFKI, Fraunhofer IGD, Software AG TU Darmstadt and SAP presented the results of the work package ”Business models in the software industry”. Especially the IT tool "Business Model Wizard" designed during the project attracted great interest from experts and visitors at the event. With the tool, founders and analysts are able to configure, analyze and compare business models within the software industry, define templates for business processes, perform target / actual comparisons or simulate the effects of changes. For a user to keep track over a diversity of data, semantic technologies developed by CONWEAVER are running in the background. Joachim Caspar (CONWEAVER) explains: “We were especially interested in interlinking the more strategic levels of business models with the more operative levels of business processes, as much as the comparison of target models in regard to actual data. Within this lies the strength of the CONWEAVER technology: the integration of heterogeneous data worlds through sematic networks; to provide edited, relevant information to decision-makers at the touch of a button.
